Early Spring!
CBS News is reporting that Punxutawney Phil did not see his shadow this morning, so we're in for an early Spring!
It's a great way to start our Friday, the day of our Winter Social. It's rumored that attendance will be lower, percentage-wise, than last year's extravaganza in Northboro. Perhaps it'd be wise to seriously consider White Cliffs for next year's bash?

If you don't see your shadow, spring comes early. Hmmmmm is the sound of Bossy mulling.
Yes, yes, yes - if it's clear out on February 2nd, it's obviously cold and wintry and why shouldn't that cold and wintry weather continue for six more weeks.
On the other hand if the sun is hiding behind clouds on February 2nd, then just as obviously it's just about to rain, which is very spring-like weather, so spring is coming early.
What's not as obvious is why I've adopted Bossy's bold and italic prose stylings...
What if it is snowing and therefore cloudy and therfore no shadow yet that is quite snowy weather? (all in courier font)
WL,
We are surprised at your ignorance of weather phenomena!
If it is snowing, winter is about to end as well. It's well known that the amount of water on the earth is finite. If it's snowing on the morning of February 2nd, it's obviously been a long, cold winter, and the countryside is doubtless covered in feet of snow. Since there's a limit to how much snow can fall - due to the limited supply of water, winter must be about to end.
