Did you know?

Did you know that the neutron is not stable outside of the nucleus of an atom? It's got a mean lifetime of about 15 minutes (885.7±0.8 s to be exact)...

Of course, once they've rid themselves of that pesky electron and electron neutrino, they become protons, which are notoriously stable: Protons are observed to be stable and their empirically observed half-life is at least 6.6×10^35 yr. (I've heard of all nighters before, but that's just ridiculous!)
