Tuesday Cat Blogging (Apocalypse Version)

Bloomberg is reporting:

A cat from the Baltic Sea island of Ruegen, where Germany's first cases of bird flu were detected, has tested positive for the H5N1 avian influenza strain, the Federal Research Institute for Animal Health said.

Tests still need to be done to determine whether it is the high-pathogen version of the H5N1 virus that is dangerous to people, the organization, also known as the Friedrich Loeffler Institute, said today in a faxed statement. The institute is based on Riems, another north German island.

Bill Murray must be smiling to himself now.

Just so we're clear on the Bill Murray reference:

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling.
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.
