Conflict

RA and NR are off to Chelmsford for a day of training in the art of "deal[ing] effectively with conflict".

I wonder if the Tibetan above has the right idea? Perhaps the best way to deal effectively with conflict is to incite more?

Local Warming

Since the tender financial types have left, we've turned off the air conditioner. Hopefully no one has frozen to death while it's been on.

Monday - Be Nice to RD Day

Since Be Nice to CC Day went so very well, this Monday will be known as "Be Nice to RD Day". Have a hot dog or burger for him!

Gin and Tonic and Heat

Since it's going to be hot enough for malaria to become endemic here today, we've got to take steps. So, today's tea will be Gin and Tonic.

Be nice to CC day a smashing success!

Thanks to all who participated, with particular thanks to the organizer.

From today's Guardian:

CO2 emissions rise outpaces worst-case scenario

Guardian Unlimited, By Hilary Osborne, May 22

Worldwide CO2 emissions rose at a faster rate in 2000-2004 than the worst-case scenario imagined in this year's UN reports on climate, according to new research.

The rise over the first four years of this century is also greater than in the 1990s - 3.1% a year between 2000-2004, up from an average of 1.1% a year during the 1990s.

This is faster than scenarios developed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), suggesting even its most alarming predictions of the effects of climate change may not tell the whole story.

Thank you for your patients!

Twelve days he makes us wait for the latest edition of our tactical goals! Twelve days we've been out wandering the desert in search of our direction home!

Today, an apology, the tactical goals, and a "Thank you for your patients!"...

It's a good thing that we're such understanding folks, and would never direct abuse at our CEO for a little slip like this.

Remains of the day(s)

AZ was kind enough to encourage me to post this picture. Apparently it's causing sickness both near and far. Unfortunately, none of the sayings on the tea bags offer any advice on letting go.

Did you know?

That on this date in history the Volcano Maki was invented?

Happy Friday

Happy Friday, everybody.

The accoutrements of today's tea have been gathered, and we're on track for 4:00.

NR will be bringing her garlic cheese masterpiece, and there will be cape codders and/or plain old virgin vodka (and maybe a little of the left-over chocolate variety).

Hasta Quatro!

Bimini Summit!

Hey, we were just discussing the events in Brattleboro, and the idea dawned on us - why not hold our upcoming bimini summit there? It's closer to SR - and not that far from home base!

Spring in Brattleboro, VT

Is this the sort of behavior that we want to be supporting, however indirectly? Perhaps we should revisit our support for Vermont business.

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. - Spring has arrived in this southeastern Vermont shire town. The trees are less bare, and some local residents are more so. Brattleboro has no ordinance, and Vermont no law, against public nudity. Some of the people who caused a stir last year when they began appearing downtown as nature made them are back.

Not everyone is happy.

Resident Theresa Toney said she was dining at a downtown restaurant when she spotted her first naked person of the spring. She looked out the window "and saw a man in his 60s walking up and down Main Street totally nude," she said. "This is indecent exposure where it doesn't belong."

The Lending Library is Open for Business

Thanks to one munificent soul, our lending library and magazine bazaar has had its first deposit and is therefore now open for business.

Hurry! The Meaning of Liff can be found there - but perhaps not for long!

This time the rumor is true!

The Chocolate Vodka rumor, that is.

Oh, and happy friday...

Hey!

Did AM take off with our gaming kit?

The new kids get all the cool toys...

Welcome AM!

At the company-wide meeting today we met a new member of our corporate family. Welcome aboard, AM! We hope that contrary to the rest of us, you're a morning person (as befits your moniker here)...

Good luck with your microscopic territory - we hope it doesn't bore you.

Gaming Kit

Today the engineering staff created our gaming kit - and boy is it smokin' (Even without the incense).

We just hope nobody's working on the elevator shaft. Might set off a fire alarm, or something.

According to Google

According to Google there are only two other Solidworks geniuses.

It's a pretty rarefied world that NT inhabits.

Solidworks Challenge!

ED has announced what could shape up to be a weekly event! The "Solidworks challenge"! That's the game where he takes something that sounds easy, in fact sounds like a complete moron could do it in a flash, and hands it out to the engineering staff.

There's yet to be a winner.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow. We thought that we'd get a jump on the festivities by celebrating at Tea today.

In case you're not interested in celebrating the victory of Ignacio Zaragoza Sequin over the French occupying forces in the battle of Puebla (1862), the persistent rumor of "chocolate vodka" has recurred. At least the chocolate will be Mexican.

NT's cat is safe home.

Hopefully some time in the basement down the street should keep him from straying again soon.
