Ice Cream - Not just for breakfast anymore

Ice cream - There's nothing better than ice cream on a hot summer's day.

According to prevention magazine, it's a diet food!

It might even be great for breakfast!

Though some pooh pooh the idea.

There are even University courses in Ice Cream Technology, and even Symposia - see:
Ice Cream II, Proceedings of the 2nd International Symposium on Ice Cream

Ice Cream - wonder food, or coronary on a cone - you decide!

Software Summit Success

Today finds SR wending his way northward, emissaries from TT visiting DBi, much conversation about database presentation technology and days that will live in infamy.

California or Bust!

That is all.

Gamma Naming Contest

No news regarding the Gamma naming contest. So far, we only have one entry - looks like JU will be capturing the prize...

Software Summit Starts - Chili a success

At 1:08 PM, SR arrived, and the software summit was in session. Getting right to business, he availed himself of the last of the chili. There's nothing like starting a software summit with a little digestive stimulant!

RA brought the chili, created over the Columbus Day weekend. WL enjoyed it, and just about everyone tried it. It was a little hot for the crowd, and the rumor is that RD really couldn't stomach it. He did at least claim to have finished it.

As expected, QN tried the Habaneros that accompanied the chili, but they were too hot even for him.

CC delivered the Summit's plenary address, entitled "All men are pigs", after which SR, JU, MG and RA got down to brass tacks, the discussion of remaining tasks for Beta.

Snyder Feud?

WL noticed today as he was reading the ingredients section (no dyes involved!) on a bag of Jalapeno pretzels here that Synder's of Hanover (America's Pretzel Bakery since 1909) must be in a blood feud of some kind with "Snyder of Berlin".

Poor Snyder of Berlin - having been bought up by BirdsEye must have been traumatic.

More on this story as the facts stroll in.

UPDATE: WL recommends this piece of Snyder history - Fascinating reading, by the way. Seems that there was no blood feud, merely a dissolution. Further, Synder's was a competitor of the Utz company - also a favorite purveyor of DBI snack food.

UPDATE: As ReberVt reminds us, Feud is properly spelled as corrected, after the old rule u before e except after F. A million thanks from the staff of head-smashed-in, for keeping us on our toes.

OZ Feast a resounding success!

This year's Oz Feast was a resounding success. WL, CC, RA, and AO (Of course) attended. PG and JT couldn't make it, as the show waits for no man (or Feast) as the case may be. Margarita's on Rt. 9 in Framingham was the venue. The food was excellent!

Next big event - starting Tuesday - is the Software Summit. Stay tuned for live color coverage, right here at head-smashed-in!

The Poetry of Donald Rumsfeld

I was reminded today of the poetry of Donald Rumsfeld.

Here's slate's compilation, and their 2nd edition.

This is from a review published in the Pittsburgh Post and Gazette.

More from the trenches.

Here's the CD page.

OZ Feast scheduled for Friday

Hear ye, Hear ye, good people of DBI. The owner and CEO of Oz-bay will be available for lunch this coming Friday, October 7th.

Come one, come all to Oz Feast! There's surely nothing that will compare!
